Federal Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker MP, is commencing her five week tour of the electorate with an emphasis on listening to local residents.

Ms Coker says the tour, which starts in the Colac Otway region on Saturday 3 August, is an opportunity for Corangamite residents to hear directly from Labor and to share their views on what matters to them and their community.

“It’s important that residents’ voices are heard as part of policy discussions and I’ll be out in the electorate to listen to local residents, community groups, sporting clubs, business and schools, to hear about the issues that impact them. This is a great opportunity for me to better understand what concerns the people in our community.”

As part of the tour, Ms Coker will be holding mobile offices, inviting locals to join her for a coffee at a local café and holding ‘Politics in the Pub’ events.
“In the first week, I’ll have a mobile office in Apollo Bay on Saturday, be having a coffee with locals most days, and hosting ‘Politics in the Pub’ events on Wednesday evening in Apollo Bay and Thursday evening in Birregurra.”

“I am excited to be able to organise this tour which, although busy, will be full of opportunities for me to listen to residents and those people who volunteer and work hard for Corangamite.”

“My team have been reaching out and organising meetings with schools, community groups, business owners and local government, so we can cover as much of this diverse electorate as possible.”

Following the tour Ms Coker plans to continue to hold regular mobile office, coffee and Politics in the Pub events in the local community.

Emails, flyers and social media events have all been organised to provide residents with information about opportunities to meet with Ms Coker and the details will be available on the website soon.

If residents are interested in attending the ‘Coffee with a Pollie’ or ‘Politics in the Pub’ events, they are encouraged to call Ms Coker’s electorate office on 5243 1444 or email Libby.Coker.MP@aph.gov.au.
