Let’s get the federal government’s election commitment of $10 million for a 50 metre, outdoor pool delivered.

As your federal MP and an advocate for a pool, I’ve been working with local residents. After several public meetings, we formed the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre Advocacy Group to give voice to community views.

Our community wants to seize this opportunity for a 50 metre, year-round pool, located around Drysdale. I’ll continue to fight for a facility that meets the needs of:

  • Local families
  • Recreational swimmers
  • Older people
  • Lap swimmers
  • People with disabilities

Local, state and federal government must each do their part to ensure the delivery of an aquatic facility for the whole community.

  • City of Greater Geelong councillors must act to accept funding offered by the Commonwealth
  • Scott Morrison and the Liberals must then release the $10 million they promised for a pool in 2019
  • Council can then utilise the funding to deliver a fit for purpose facility on the North Bellarine
  • I will also work with the community and the state government to achieve a second stage, which could include a 25 metre indoor pool and hydrotherapy facilities

I have written to councillors asking them to support the pool and I urge you to do the same.
