Today, Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Sarah Hayden alongside Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker, and Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, officially opened the Inverleigh Active Youth Space.
This community-driven project has transformed the Yerram Yaluk Bun Play Space in Inverleigh into an active recreation and community space. The impressive facility features a new BMX/Pump Track, two 3x3 Basketball Courts with lighting and a significant upgrade of the existing Skate Park. This infrastructure is supported by car parking, shelters, furniture, landscaping and path works within the precinct providing a fantastic outdoor recreation space for physical and social activity.
This $2.34M project was a collaborative effort, with the Victorian Government contributing $1.49M from its Growing Suburbs Fund and the Federal Government providing $700,000. Council contributed the remaining $150,000 of project funding.
In addition to the project delivery works, $25,000 for path connections and improvements within the Yerram Yaluk Bun site was funded through a generous contribution from the Inverleigh Progress Association. Septic system and dispersal line works to improve the capacity of the Inverleigh public toilets were also completed at the site in October 2024.
