A FEDERAL Government grant of $8.9million will back Landcare Australia as it continues to create impactful partnerships and programs to help protect the environment.

Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker MP said the funding was part of the Albanese Government’s Supporting National Landcare Organisations Grants.

Ms Coker said the $8.9 million grant would go towards the “Landcare Unbound – Landcare Australia Forging the Future” project.

“The Albanese Government will continue the fight to protect our native species, our amazing coastal environments, and expansive hinterlands so they can be enjoyed in the future,” Ms Coker said.

Ms Coker she was looking forward to hearing about how the project was supporting local communities and Landcare groups to protect and restore biodiversity.

“This funding will support local organisations to protect and restore our precious places including threatened species habitat,” Ms Coker said.

“We want to make sure our children and grandchildren can enjoy our beautiful environment – and that means acting now to protect more of what’s precious and better manage it for the future.

“That includes dealing with feral animals and weeds to give our native plants and animals the best chance of surviving and thriving.”
