TGS has declined to take part in a consultation session in Torquay.
Replying to Ms Coker’s request for an in-person, out-of-working-hours consultation session in Torquay, TGS stated that past interactions in Torquay had raised potential safety concerns.
TGS added that it has not closed the door on community interaction, but that a cautious approach must be taken when engaging with the Torquay community. TGS also said that community engagement should be balanced with the safety of attendees and staff.
Federal Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker expressed disappointment with the response from TGS to her request for an in-person, out-of-working-hours consultation session in Torquay.
“Torquay is an amazing, passionate and respectful community who want to have a constructive conversation with the companies,” Ms Coker said.
“I hope the proponents will reconsider.”
“I will continue to advocate for my community and update them when new information becomes available.”
