Construction of a new St Leonards telecommunications tower is ready to roll with the Bluff Road development set to play a key role in the Albanese Government’s commitment to improve mobile coverage for local residents.

The Bluff Road telecommunications tower will be built by Indara, with Telstra committed to installing its equipment on the new structure.

Federal Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker, said this was good news for St Leonards residents.

“The telcos are ready to go, and the City of Greater Geelong has provided approval for the development,” Ms Coker said.

Alongside many in the St Leonards community, Ms Coker advocated to the City of Greater Geelong to prioritise the approval of the development application for the tower.

Ms Coker said she will continue to provide further updates to the community as the project progresses.

“I understand how important this issue is for people in St Leonards – it’s been a hard-fought journey but I’m so pleased that construction is now ready to commence.”

“This is a great outcome for the small seaside community – it will mean better connectivity to friends, family and services.”
