TIPS AND TRICKS to protect children from the risks of cyber space will be the focus of a forum in Clifton Springs on Tuesday night.
Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker and Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland, are hosting the forum, with representatives from the E-Safety Commission set to provide locals with an opportunity to ask questions of the experts.
The forum will be held at Clifton Springs Primary School, on 29 October from 6.30pm-7.30pm and is open to all local residents, including parents, grandparents and teachers.
The forum will cover the importance of online safety in the digital age and provide practical strategies to help minimise the risk of cyberbullying, unwanted contact and other threats.
Ms Coker said recent cases of online bullying and harassment highlight the importance of promoting a safe environment for children online.
“The digital age has brought with it many new opportunities, but it also has increased the risk of online threats, especially to children”, Ms Coker said.
“The Australian e-Safety Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that all Australians have positive experiences online. This forum will be an opportunity for residents to hear from the E-Safety Commission first-hand.”
The event is free to attend, however RSVPs are essential as seating is limited.
Local residents can book seats by contacting Libby Coker’s office on 03 5261 7683, or by visiting, Libby Coker Events - Child Online Safety.
