The Albanese Government welcomes the progress RSL Victoria has made on the Surf Coast Geelong Veterans’ and Families’ Hub.
The Hub will be a one stop shop for the veteran community, providing improved coordination and access to veteran services including physical and mental health care, wellbeing support, advocacy, employment assistance, housing advice, and social connection opportunities.
This project is enabled by a $5.445 million grant that was awarded by the Albanese Labor Government.
The Hub will be located behind the Geelong RSL Sub-Branch at 50 Barwon Heads Road, Belmont, and will provide outreach services to veterans across the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.
RSL Victoria will work with local partners and ex-service organisations to provide support to veterans and families of veterans through the Geelong RSL sub-branch while construction is underway.
We expect to see construction complete in the middle of 2027.
The Surf Coast Geelong Veterans’ and Families’ Hub will be connected with the Albanese Government’s national Veterans’ and Families’ Hub network and will work with the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Comments attributable to Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker:
"Our veterans and their families deserve access to high-quality support close to home, and it's great to see this important project reaching the construction phase.
"I was proud to advocate for this investment because I know how important it is that veterans and their families can more easily access the services they need, when they need them.
"This Hub and its outreach services will improve access to coordinated health, wellbeing, advocacy, employment and housing support across Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine, ensuring more veterans and families can get the help they deserve.
"I'm proud the Albanese Government committed $5 million to help deliver this project, and I thank everyone who has worked to achieve this milestone.”
