Today I am announcing that a local school in our region will benefit from a share of $32 million in grants to upgrade school infrastructure and equipment.
St Mary Mackillop Catholic Primary School will receive $25,000 in funding to build a new outdoor learning space and upgrade shade structures.
The funding is part of a $250 million commitment to improve school infrastructure across the nation.
All schools across the country were invited to apply for the funding and projects were assessed by the Department of Education and selected based on need.
Schools were able to apply for grants of up to $25,000 to support much needed improvements to facilities and learning environments.
The investment is in addition to the $3.8 million Capital Grants Program funding awarded to the school for a new basketball centre in November last year.
Works commenced on the project in April 2023, with anticipated completion by April 2024.
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering on our promise to invest in schools – there is more to come.

“Better facilities mean they can stay in Bannockburn; they don’t have to travel to Geelong. It means they can stay in their own community and develop strong links with their neighbours which is so important.
“Our local schools deserve the very best infrastructure and quality equipment to help students achieve their best.
“The Albanese Government is investing in a better and fairer education system, and this is terrific news for our local schools with more to come.
“This is a great outcome and I’m happy that we can deliver this funding to much-needed projects for our local schools.”
