Karaaf Wetlands And Thompsons Creek

I am extremely concerned about the current threats to the Karaaf Wetlands and Thompson Creek estuary. The Karaaf Wetlands and Thompson Creek estuary are important habitat for migratory birds and other local species.

The Karaaf Wetlands and Thompson Creek estuary have also been identified as among the most important and efficient carbon sinks in our region.

Saltmarsh dieback has been identified in a number of reports over the past two decades.

The importance of the Karaaf Wetlands and Thompson Creek estuary is well known and under consideration to become part of the internationally recognised RAMSAR estate.

I strongly support initiatives to better manage stormwater runoff into the Karaaf Wetlands and Thompson Creek estuary.

Update: Labor has recently (24 March 2022) committed funds toward this important project under the proposed Urban Rivers and Catchment Program, once an Albanese Government is in Canberra, however more needs to be done.  So please sign the petition.
