An Albanese Labor Government will make Bannockburn Football & Netball Club accessible to all their players and officials with key upgrades to the club’s female change rooms.

This $350,000 commitment from Labor to Bannockburn Football & Netball Club would see the change rooms become women and girl friendly.

This commitment was announced at the club’s home ground at Bannockburn’s Victoria Park this morning (11 April 2022) by Deputy Leader of the Australian Labor Party and Federal Member for Corio, Richard Marles, along with Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker.

This injection of funds is the investment the Bannockburn Football & Netball Club needs, especially for the female and junior members.

Quotes attributable to Richard Marles:

“Labor is committed to supporting families and strengthening local communities.

“We want more families keeping fit and engaging in their local community by playing sports, so we’ll create inclusive facilities.

“As the local Member, Libby has been strongly advocating for these upgrades.

“Labor is committed to these worthwhile improvements and only Labor can be trusted to deliver them.”

Quotes attributable to Libby Coker:

“These club upgrades were especially important to increasing the participation of women, girls and juniors generally.

“We have recently seen a surge in sports participation as more opportunities and choices open up for women and girls.

“This is increasing participation in sport overall, which is a wonderful thing.

“Watching so many more girls and women getting back out and playing footy and netball, as we emerge from COVID, has been an absolute joy to me.

“I am so thrilled to be able to contribute funding to support this historic shift and provide the change room facilities that women and girls deserve.

“Bannockburn is a rapidly growing community, and the needs for sporting infrastructure have increased across the board.  For me it’s a priority that clubrooms be upgraded to cater for girls and women, to meet current standards and expectations.

“This is about strengthening local club infrastructure to increase female participation.”
